James A. Waskovich

Co-founder and Managing Partner

Jim co-founded Princeton Equity Group, co-leads its investment activities, and sits on the Firm’s investment committee. Prior to co-founding Princeton, Jim spent nearly 20 years as a private equity investor at Summit Partners, ABS Capital, and our predecessor firm, Princeton Ventures (which he founded in 2006). Jim’s current investments include medspa810, The CORE Institute, Sola Salon Studios, and Restoration 1, and his previous investment experience includes Massage Envy (acquired by Roark Capital) and European Wax Center (acquired by General Atlantic). Jim holds a B.S. in Economics and Politics from Washington & Lee University where he was a George Washington Scholar.

Douglas L. Kennealey

Co-founder and Managing Partner

Doug co-founded Princeton Equity Group, co-leads its investment activities, and sits on the Firm’s investment committee. Prior to co-founding Princeton, Doug spent nearly 20 years as a private equity investor at Summit Partners, Silver Lake, Brazos, and MPK Equity Partners (which he co-founded in 2015). In addition, Doug has been a Senior Advisor at Princeton Ventures since its inception in 2006. Doug sits on the boards of Urban Air, Sola Salon Studios, Restoration 1, and EnergyNet. His previous board and investment experience includes European Wax Center (acquired by General Atlantic), Vision Source (acquired by Essilor), and Smile Source. Doug holds a B.A., magna cum laude, in Theology and Economics from Boston College and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.

Investment Professionals

Robert A. Finn


Rob joined our predecessor firm, Princeton Ventures, in 2014 and leads the development and management of Princeton’s proprietary platform, FusionPointTM. Prior to joining Princeton, Rob was an investor at Edison Partners, a $1 billion venture capital firm focused on emerging growth. At Edison, he originated nine investments and was a member of the investment committee where he co-led an additional fifteen investments. Rob received a B.S. in Management Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Philip A. Piro

Vice President

Phil joined our predecessor firm, Princeton Ventures, in 2018 and focuses on sourcing and executing transactions for Princeton. He also provides meaningful operating support to our portfolio companies and has served as the President and COO of medspa810. Prior to joining Princeton, Phil served as the COO of Brad’s Raw Chips, where he managed the company’s supply chain and manufacturing facility and successfully executed numerous operational improvements and strategic priorities. Before Brad’s, Phil launched and managed a beverage business called Captains Neck Brands. Phil began his career in investment banking at Deutsche Bank and Citigroup, where he worked with a variety of businesses on mergers, acquisitions and capital raises. Phil holds a B.A. in Economics and Middle East Studies from Yale University and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.

Val Kharkover


Val joined Princeton in 2019 and focuses on executing transaction and providing support for portfolio company initiatives at Princeton. Prior to joining Princeton, Val was an Analyst at Financial Technology Partners where he focused on transactions in the global payments and financial services industries. Previously, he worked in strategy and corporate finance at GE Healthcare. Val holds a B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University.

Ryan Lynch


Ryan joined Princeton in 2020 and focuses on executing transactions and providing support for portfolio company initiatives.  Prior to joining Princeton, Ryan spent two years as an Associate at American Infrastructure Funds, a private equity fund with $3 billion of assets under management.  Prior to American Infrastructure, Ryan was an investment banking analyst in Morgan Stanley’s Natural Resources Group.Ryan holds a B.B.A. in Finance with Highest Honors from the University of Texas at Austin where he graduated with a 4.0 GPA and was the recipient of the Herbert F. Poyner, Jr. Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Business.  Ryan is also an Eagle Scout.

Samantha Saloom

Office Manager

Samantha is responsible for overseeing the firm’s offices and supporting its investment team members. Prior to Princeton she has held marketing and administrative roles at a family office, a retailer, and a medical device company. Samantha has a B.S. in Marketing from Berkeley College.

William C. Martin

Bill has over 20 years of experience investing in and growing market leading public and private businesses. Bill serves as the Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of Raging Capital Management, a private investment partnership and was the co-founder of Princeton Ventures, our predecessor firm. Bill has led institutional investments in a number of successful private companies including Facebook, LinkedIn (acquired by Microsoft), MarkLogic, Massage Envy (acquired by Roark Capital), Toast, Parallel Wireless, and Shape Security (acquired by F5 Networks). He has served on a number of public company boards including Bankrate (acquired by Apax Partners), (acquired by Kenexa), and Vitesse Semiconductor (acquired by Microsemi). Patrick K. McGee

Patrick has more than 25 years of investment and finance experience. He is currently a Managing Partner at MPK Equity Partners, which he co-founded in 2015 with Doug Kennealey. Prior to MPK, Patrick was a co-founder, Partner, and member of the investment committee at Brazos Private Equity Partners, a $1.4 billion private equity firm. Prior to co-founding Brazos, Patrick was a senior investment professional at Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst, a multi-billion dollar private equity firm. He began his career as an investment banker with Merrill Lynch & Co. Patrick received a B.S. from Vanderbilt University, with a double major in Engineering Science and Economics and a minor in Business Administration.
